artist statement
As an artist, I believe that art should be an expression of my emotions. Even something as simple as a vase or a cup can present the eye with landscapes and designs reminiscent of a forgotten memory or moment. I want the viewer to relate to my art on an emotional level, looking beyond my vision for the art to see a bit of themselves too. My current body of work focuses on nature and abstract forms. My primary medium is ceramics, which makes me at heart a sculptural artist. But in the past two years in the Whitworth University's Art Department has pushed me to explore new three dimensional mediums. The recent closure of my school to battle COVID-19 has forced me to explore methods that I can do from my house without the use of a kiln. While at home I continue to explore new ways to make art with the tools around me
